Why is golden hour scientifically fascinating, and what is the best way to capture it? What emotions does golden hour capture and create? From my research and experimentation, I have discovered that golden hour occurs when the sun is at its lowest in the sky, which creates softer light rays because the light has to travel further. Through my work, I wanted to explore how the golden hour affects humans and nature while capturing the short window of pristine sunshine.
Describe ways your sustained investigation developed through practice, experimentation, and revision.
I was intrigued by light in my exploration. I practiced compositional techniques to build abstract images. To collect an explore how golden hour varies I layered and blended; light, texture, color, and focal subject. I compiled my sources by capturing light at different days, seasons, and light levels in Vietnam, Colombia, Panama, UK, and the Us. I employed Photoshop techniques of blending modes, compositing, and inserting texture layers. I also experimented with photos during blue hour, the short period after the sun is down but before it gets dark, an underrated time for creating art.
